WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. — Former Wappingers Falls resident Assunta Susan Rider died Tuesday, May 17. She was 97.
Educated at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Wappingers Falls, Rider was a seamstress at various garment factories in Poughkeepsie, Wappingers Falls and Beacon.
She married Oliver Rider on April 7, 1940, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie. He predeceased her on Aug. 3, 1986.
Rider is survived by her sons and their spouses, John and his wife Carol, and Joe and his wife Patricia; her sister, Margaret “Margie” Rizzi; her grandchildren, Brian, Kevin Maureen, Samantha, Karen, Darren, Todd and Lisa; her great-grandchildren, Jamie, Rachel, Brian, Matthew, Taylor, Maya and Nathan; her great-great-grandchildren, Cecelia and Logan; and many nieces and nephews.
Rider was also predeceased by her parents, William Minnetto and Antoinette Longo; and her siblings, Mary Chickery, Anna Balga, Grace Massell, and William, Frank and Joseph Minnetto.
There is no calling hour or funeral, in keeping with her wishes.
Cremation has taken place, and burial will be at the convenience of the family. Inurnment will be at the Mausoleum at St. Peters Cemetery in Poughkeepsie.
